KEYNOTE: “How to Get Children to Reach for the Stars” – Alex Trenoweth
Every child must be educated. They are placed in a classroom with little thought about their individual needs and preferences. Children learn to tolerate the inadequacies of the educational system because, after all, it was how their parents and teachers learned. But is there a better way and can astrology provide an alternative? Alex bases her award-winning astrological research on child development on the data she has collected from teaching over 30,000 children in her long career as a schoolteacher. Her work is both unique and profound as she has found a practical way to help parents, teachers and children to fulfil their individual needs within the confines of an outdated method of learning. This lecture is a must-see for those who teach or raise children.
“Understanding Yourself: The Shape of You” – Lisa Bland
In this talk I explain chart shapes, quadrants, and qualities of the chart. The goal is that anyone new to astrology could learn about themselves with these tools and understandings. The clarity of this approach allows beginners a strong approach to relating to the chart through the elemental colours within the chart.
“Plants + Planets: Exploring Astrological Herbalism” – Debbie Stapleton
In this talk we will get acquainted with the classical 7 Planets from an elemental and constitutional perspective, and discover the plants they are connected to in nature. Understanding this relationship will help us to use astrology and herbalism together more effectively.
“Better Relationships through Astrology” – Emma Boardman
Each of us is a unique composition of parts. Our chart is an expression of our inner landscape and shows how we connect with others. Emma shows us how two charts dance together, offering insight into how we can get the best out of our relationships.
“Moon Magic: Better Timing with Lunar Mansions” – Chris Reppucci
The Moon is the closest celestial body to us here on earth and it is her effects upon us that are most acutely felt, agreed upon even by non-astrologers. If we take a closer look into how her passage through the ecliptic is articulated, we can see much described in how we can approach magical operations and experience the natural world as well as consider some implications in what might be delineated in the chart. By investigating historical texts such as the Picatrix and the Greek Magical Papyri as well as glancing across to the Indian nakshatras we may pull a usable “lunar zodiac” more clearly into focus, and add additional layers of meaning into what might manifest in our daily lives.
“Decoding the Birth Chart – The Art of Synthesis” – Deborah Clahane
In this computer age, it is easy enough to get a “cook book” interpretation. Why bother with astrologers then? Approaching the birth chart, with its mysterious array of symbols and sometimes contradictory indications, can feel like a daunting task. How will we ever make sense of it all? We will look at some practical and intuitive ways to help work through the process of deriving meaning from the chart. Deborah teaches the subtle art of synthesis: making a clear, tangible whole out of the many strands of our complex personalities.
“Aphrodite: The force of Love and Romance in Our Lives” – Danny Larkin
The ancient deity of Aphrodite was far more capricious that the today’s new age feel good Kumbaya pin up simplification. In ancient times, Aphrodite was a Diety that had to be honoured and who retaliated against those who crossed her. The place of Venus in the horoscope reveals how Aphrodite expects to be honoured, and how the force of love and romance unfolds in our lives. There is a broad problem of importing solar sign key words to try to understand Venus by sign, which we will address head on.
“Using the Past to Predict the Future” – Terri Stevens
Terri will be taking us on a travel back in time. All the way back to 1735 to be exact when Pluto entered Scorpio. Terri will gather data and facts about the generational planets, in each sign, and what happened during those periods. Terri will then put together some future predictions based on the information gathered.
“Saturn and Dharma: Upholding the cosmic order” – Wynne Jordan
In coming to astrology, many students first learn about Saturn in terms of lack: where we experience restrictions, limitations, anxiety, and self-doubt. But if we turn to the notions of dharma and svadharma in Hindu tradition we can extract a more helpful interpretation of this much maligned planet. In this talk Wynne unpacks some of these ideas, looking at Saturn in the
natal chart and the Saturn Return.
“Who’s the Boss? : Dispositors, Rulers & Dignities” – Elodie St-Onge-Aubut
A key element of accurate natal synthesis and predictive accumen is the clear understanding of the planetary team that makes up the Natal chart Who is strong and capable? Who is weak and feeling a bit grumpy? Who is actually in someone else’s service? Elodie expertly unpicks this sometimes tricky topic and lets us get a clearer understanding of our own inner team dynamics. This topic is strongly advised as a preparation for the lecture on Almutens.
“Journey from the AC : Exploring Huber Age Point Life Clock
Timing” – Mark Douglas
Where are you now, and where are you going? Life Clock Age Progression is perhaps what most captures the imagination of those new to Huber astrology. Through 50 years of research, the Hubers have developed a timing system where the birth chart is seen as a clock for the person’s lifetime, with the age point indicating their age as the “time” on the clock. Events and developmental stages of the individual are illuminated in a highly visual, affirming manner. Practical, real-world explanations along with tips on how to use this technique through Astro.com’s Huber setup.
“Follow the Moon: Improve Health, Wealth & Happiness” – Mj Patterson
This is our closing lecture, for those around on Sunday. The Moon is a great choice for prediction both because She is all about the “feels” and because She moves swiftly and with no backwards motion. Whether by transit, progression, profection or return, She lets us know what is in store and equally critically, how we are likely to respond to what is before us. Live your happiest life!
Research Data Needed !
MC, IC Father or Mother? – Terri Stevens
Terri is currently working on a research project to determine which parent represents the MC and which parent represents the IC. Terri will be interviewing 50 participants and describing the signs that the MC and IC are in, along with where the ruling planets are to give some more information. Once the participants have given an answer it is recorded along with any planets conjunct those angles, where the Sun and Moon are and what the Rising Sign is. Check at the registration desk if you are interested in participating.
